Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, September 20 through September 26, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 81 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files our officers responded to.

Driver uninjured in park semi crash

On Tuesday, September 21 at about 3 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle commercial transport collision on Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park. The driver reported losing his brakes on his tractor/trailer unit which caused him to lose control and strike a rock wall. The driver was not injured but the commercial transport truck had to be towed from the scene.

No injuries in roundabout collision

On Tuesday, September 21 at about 10:30 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the roundabout in Radium Hot Springs. The driver of a Toyota Highlander was not able to slow for traffic in time and collided into the rear of a Ford Escape. Neither driver was injured. The driver of the Toyota Highlander was issued a violation ticket for following too closely.

Transport driver taken to hospital after crash near Brisco

On Thursday, September 23 at about 1:45 a.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle commercial transport truck rollover on Highway 95 north of Brisco. The driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries and the transport truck and trailer were towed from the scene.

Motorcycle stolen from Radium porch

On Friday, September 24, a 2013 green Kawasaki motorcycle was stolen from the porch of a residence on Copper Road in Radium Hot Springs. The motorcycle was stolen sometime over the past week.

Driver admits to falling asleep as cause of national park crash

On Saturday, September 25 at about 10:30 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 93 near Vermilion Crossing in Kootenay National Park. The driver of a Nissan Maxima told police he fell asleep and drove off the roadway. The driver was not injured but the vehicle sustained major damage and had to be towed from the scene.

Driver taken to hospital after crash in Radium

On Sunday, September 26, emergency crews responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 93 in Radium Hot Springs. The driver of a Lexus SUV left the roadway and collided with a parked Jeep Wrangler. Alcohol was ruled out as a contributing factor. The driver was transported to the hospital to be assessed and to determine if a medical event may have precipitated the collision.
