RCMP yesterday arrested two Alberta men, in their early twenties, in Cranbrook in relation to the March 29 disappearance of Nicholas Lush and the March 29 assault witnessed by a passing motorist on Highway 1 at the Hermitage overpass near Cochrane.

With this arrest and the evidence collected during the course of the investigations, the RCMP can now confirm the two events were related, and believe the victim of the assault witnessed by the passerby on Highway 1 was Nicholas Lush.

Cranbrook RCMP arrested the two men early Sunday without incident. At the time of their arrest both suspects were in the grey 2008 Dodge Charger, Alberta licence BDY-1907 that police had been looking for. The Dodge Charger has been secured for forensic examination, and the two suspects returned to Alberta to face charges in the disappearance of Nicholas Lush.

The two men arrested are being held by the RCMP in Airdrie and will appear before a Justice late this evening where they will be formally charged and a first appearance date set for court. The exact charges will not be available to report until Monday, April 6.

Nicholas Lush has still not been located and the RCMP remain hopeful he may still be found alive. As such, the RCMP continue to ask for the public’s assistance in locating Nicholas Lush, who is 32 years of age, Caucasian, 5”2”, 140 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and has tattoos of a ‘flaming tattoo’ on his left arm, a ‘demon skull’ on his right shoulder, a ‘scroll scribble’ on his stomach and various other tattoos on his hands. He was last seen wearing a black ‘Sons of Anarchy’ t-shirt, a green camouflage spring jacket, blue jeans, and black DC running shoes.
