First cohort of Advanced Forestry students graduate

Friday, Jan. 29 was a big day for a group of College of the Rockies students.

Kootenay East MLA and Minister of Energy and Mines Bill Bennett was on hand to mark the graduation of the first cohort of Advanced Forestry Skills Training students, along with senior college officials (pictured above with COTR president David Walls).

The Advanced Forestry Skills Training program is provided through the Employment Program of British Columbia and funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia.

These newly-skilled graduates are now prepared to begin their careers in the forestry industry.

The Advanced Forestry Skills Training Program is delivered by the College of the Rockies (in partnership with Stillwater Consulting) under a Labour Market Training agreement with the BC Ministry of Social Development and Social Innovation.
