Flats back to full council complement
The Village of Canal Flats council is back to a full complement following March 30 by-election.
Dean Midyette captured the council seat vacated by Coun. Evence Blanchard in December, capturing the most votes of the 126 cast. Midyette, who was sworn in April 8, edged out Linda Magee and Roy Webb for the seat.
Mayor Ute Juras informed Regional District of East Kootenay directors April 5 that she is “extremely proud of our little community” because voter turnout was strong during a busy family weekend.
