UPDATE: DriveBC reports Highway 93 is once again open.

DriveBC reports that Highway 93 in Kootenay National Park has been closed due to extreme avalanche risk.

As Highway 1 is closed for construction work east of Golden, no detour is available.

The estimated time of opening is not available.

DriveBC reports the next update will be Thursday, Dec 2.

Avalanche Canada reports extreme avalanche conditions in all three zones for the national park areas today.

Avalanche conditions are considered ‘high’ in the Purcells, high to considerable in the South Rockies and Lizard-Flathead areas.
