Tentative agreement reached

The BC Teachers’ Federation (BCTF) and the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) have reached a tentative agreement. If ratified by members, it would bring an end to the strike/lockout.

While details remain sketchy, it is believed that teachers could vote to end the strike on Thursday (Sept. 18) and students could be back to class by possibly next Monday (Sept. 22).

The breakthrough in negotiations between the BCTF and the BCPSEA came on the fourth day of talks in Richmond, after the provincial government agreed to binding arbitration.

Teachers began a full-scale job action two weeks before the summer break. Students have missed more than two weeks of the 2014-2015 school year thus far.
