Unidentified cyclist in coma; identity sought

An unidentified man in his 20s has been taken to Calgary’s Foothills Hospital in a coma following an apparent bicycling accident and police are reaching out to the public to help identify him.

On the evening of Saturday, August 1, people walking along Kpokl Road in Invermere came across an injured male with serious head injuries.

The unidentified male had been involved in a serious mountain bike accident, reported Columbia Valley RCMP S/Sgt. Marko Shehovac.

The man, appearing to be in his 20s with short black hair was treated and then taken to Foothills Hospital in a coma.

He had no identification on him.

The bike that was in the ditch is described as a Norco Kokanee Mountain bike, black in colour. It is a 27 speed with front suspension and front and rear disc brakes.

No photograph was included in the RCMP’s request to media to help them try and determine the injured cyclist’s identity.
