CFFR gets refurbished truck from Cranbrook repair centre
The Village of Canal Flats Fire and Rescue Service (CFFR), a volunteer fire department, unveiled its new fire truck this spring.
The truck is a 2006 model purchased from the Calgary Fire Department to replace a 1994 GM crew cab that was unable to continue meeting the needs of the department. The truck was placed with CARSTAR Cranbrook Signal Collision, a rare ask for this Cranbrook repair centre.
“It’s not every day that we see a project like this come though our doors,” said Nichole Zippel, office manager, CARSTAR Cranbrook Signal Collision. “It’s important for us to give back to the community we serve, so we performed extensive work on this truck at a significantly discounted rate.”
The repair centre restored the truck to its former glory by addressing the extensive chipping around the wheel wells, freshened up the faded paint on the doors as well as several other areas that needed to be addressed.
“Canal Flats might be an hour away from Cranbrook, but that is just another reason why the Kootenays are unique,” continued Zippel. “We are a widespread but close-knit community, and we were happy to give back to these deserving volunteers with our repair services.”
The Village of Canal Flats Fire and Rescue Service is a volunteer department with 16 members, providing fire and first responder aid to its community.
“These volunteers go above and beyond for their community and it was an honour to give back to this deserving group,” said Zippel.
