Closest to the Pin fundraiser continues

Copper Point Golf Club continues to raise funds for a graduating student from David Thompson Secondary School (DTSS) in its Friday evening Closest to the Pin contest.

Congratulations Tyler Powell who received the award at his 2019 graduation ceremony.

Last year, Copper Point raised $1,500 for a community award. So far this year the course has raised $2,380 with another competition this upcoming Friday, August 30.

For $5 you get two attempts to get closest to the pin in Men’s, Women’s or a Junior division, and half the money collected goes the giving back initiative.

The competition happens every Friday evening on Copper Point’s Par 1 from 7-9 p.m. (beside The View Restaurant deck).

Congratulations to this week’s closest to the pin winners on Aug. 23.

Distance: 72 yards. Women’s – Laurie Ziola – 3 ft 2 inches; Men’s – David Bocking – 6 ft; Juniors  N/A.

They each won prizes and a beverage (or non-alcoholic) from weekly sponsors and will get invited back for the Final Shootout this, Saturday August 31.

The HIO pot is now up to $379 and will go to the next person to hole their shot.
