This past week, June 3 through June 9, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 67 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files our officers responded to.
Scrapper arrested on outstanding warrants
On June 3, police were called to the Copper City Saloon in Invermere for a disturbance. Once on scene officers learned two individuals had been involved in a fight and one had departed prior to police arrival. The remaining individual was found to have outstanding warrants. The male was arrested on the warrants and brought before a Justice.
Traffic dispute de-escalated by officer
On June 3, RCMP received a report of a dispute in between two drivers over the new road signage on Laurier Street and 3rd Avenue. A driver had missed the signage for the new traffic pattern. A second driver followed that vehicle and engaged in a discussion after the confused driver had cut him off. Police spoke with both drivers and de-escalated the situation. The Columbia Valley RCMP is reminding all users of this intersection to be patient until all the road painting is completed and please be kind to one another.
No injuries in two vehicle crash
On June 4, at about 12 p.m., a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of 4th Street and 7th Avenue in Invermere. A Freightliner van was northbound on 7th Avenue when it was struck by a Dodge Journey that was turning from 4th Street onto 7th Avenue. None of the occupants were injured. The driver of the Dodge Journey was served a violation ticket for failing to yield.
Male arrested for assault and released on conditions
On June 4, at 6:30 p.m., police were called to a disturbance in Wilmer. Police responded and learned that two men who resided on the property got into an argument, which escalated into a physical confrontation. One of the men suffered minor injuries in the fight. The other male was arrested for assault and released on conditions.
Disturbance at Radium motel
On June 4, at 8:30 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at a motel on McKay Street in Radium Hot Springs. Two men who resided at the motel were involved in a confrontation with each other. Both men agreed to avoid contact with each other after being warned about their behaviour.
Hyundai key/fob turned in
On June 8 a key and key fob left at the Ray Brydon Dog Park situated on Toby Creek Road, Invermere was brought to the attention of police. This is a Hyundai vehicle key and fob with a little black running shoe. If this belongs to you, please contact the Columbia Valley RCMP and quote file 2019-1267.
