This past week, October 21 through October 27, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 29 calls for service. The following are some of the more notable files to which our officers responded.
Investigation continues following assault arrest
On Thursday, October 24 at about 8:30 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a residence on Old Westrock Mine Road near Invermere for a complaint of an unwanted male who refused to leave. The male departed the residence prior to police arriving. Upon speaking to the complainant the officer learned the male had assaulted an individual on the property before leaving. Police conducted patrols and located the male driving an uninsured pickup truck. The male was arrested for assault and an impaired driving investigation was initiated. The male was held in custody while police continued to investigate the assault and other offences.
No injuries in two-vehicle crash
On Saturday, October 26 at about 8:50 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Athalmer Road near Lakeview Road in Invermere. The driver of a Suzuki Grand Vitara was west bound on Athalmer Road when she lost control of her vehicle then overcorrected and hit the guard rail and a second vehicle. The second vehicle reportedly had minor damage. Both drivers exchanged information and the second vehicle departed prior to police arrival. The Suzuki had to be towed due to due to damage to one of the tires. There were no injuries reported.
Sheep horns stolen from Canal Flats shed
On Saturday, October 26 a resident of Canal Flats reported a theft of sheep horns from his residence on Grainger Road. The theft occurred from a locked shed sometime between October 21 and October 25. It appeared the sheep horns were specifically targeted as other antlers and tools were untouched.
Rental unit door left ajar, items stolen from inside
On Saturday, October 26, a theft was reported from a rental unit at the Horsethief Lodge in Panorama Mountain Resort. The door to the unit was believed to be left ajar and a TV and other small items were stolen from the rental unit.
