Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, February 10 through February 16, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 53 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files to which our officers responded.
Vehicles spray painted in driveway
On Monday, February 10, a resident on 9th Avenue in Invermere reported someone had spray painted two vehicles parked in the driveway with green paint. The owner suspected his vehicles were targeted. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Columbia Valley RCMP or Crimestoppers.
Fuel stolen from Spur Valley
On Tuesday, February 11, Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of theft of fuel from the Spur Valley Golf Course. At approximately 2 a.m. a male and female in an older model pickup siphoned fuel from a piece of equipment. Police have requested the video footage for their investigation. On the same day the Springs Golf Course in Radium Hot Springs discovered footprints in the snow leading to their maintenance area but it did not appear anything had been stolen.
Possible cocaine seized in search warrant
On Wednesday, February 12, Columbia Valley RCMP officers executed a search warrant on a vehicle in Invermere and seized a quantity of a controlled substance believed to be cocaine along with other items consistent with drug trafficking. This investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released at this time.
Driver arrested for refusing to provide breath sample
On Saturday, February 15, Columbia Valley RCMP received a report of an impaired driver near Radium Hot Springs. Officers responded and located the suspect vehicle, a Dodge Ram pickup, on Capilo Way near Invermere. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer noted signs of impairment and initiated an impaired driving investigation. The driver was uncooperative and refused to provide a breath sample. The driver was arrested for refusal and lodged in cells until he was sober to prevent continuation of the offence. The driver was released on conditions to appear in court at a later date.
One injured in 7th Avenue rear-end collision
On Saturday, February 15, at 11 a.m., police responded to a rear end collision on 7th Avenue in Invermere. The driver of a southbound Ford F150 stopped for traffic when he was struck from behind by a Ford F250. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and a passenger in the Ford F250 was transported to the Invermere and District Hospital by ambulance to be assessed. The driver of the Ford F250 was issued a violation ticket for following too close.
