Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, August 31 through September 6, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 99 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files to which our officers responded.

No injuries in Brisco area crash

On Tuesday, September 1 at about 2:30 p.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Highway 95 approximately three km north of Brisco. The driver of a Mini Cooper rolled his vehicle into the ditch after hitting the shoulder of the highway. The driver and lone occupant was uninjured.

Motorcyclist hospitalized after crash near Dolly Varden

On Tuesday, September 1 at about 3:20 p.m., emergency crews responded to a single vehicle motorcycle collision on Highway 93 near Dolly Varden in Kootenay National Park. A motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve in the road and went into the ditch. The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Impaired driver stopped in Canal Flats

On Saturday, September 5 at about 9 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop with a Dodge pickup in Canal Flats. While speaking with the driver, the officer noted an odour of liquor coming from the driver’s breath. The driver, who was found to be a prohibited driver, submitted to a breath demand and blew two fails. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days. The driver was released on an Appearance Notice to attend court at a later date in relation to driving while prohibited.

Expired decal stop leads to impaired charge

On Sunday, September 6 at about 8 p.m., an officer stopped the driver of an Acura NSX for having an expired val decal. While speaking to the driver, the officer formed suspicion that the driver had alcohol in his body. The driver complied with a breath demand and blew two fails.  As a result, the driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30-days.
