Columbia Valley RCMP Report

This past week, September 7 to 13, Columbia Valley RCMP responded to 75 calls for service. The following is a summary of some of the files to which our officers responded.

Utility truck and golf cart stolen from Eagle Ranch

On Monday, September 7 at 1:40 a.m., Columbia Valley RCMP responded to an alarm at the Eagle Ranch Golf Course. A small utility truck and a golf cart were reported stolen from the property. Later the same day the utility truck was located abandoned on Windermere Loop Road in Windermere. The vehicle was seized for a forensic examination and the investigation is ongoing.

Truck stolen from Windermere residence

On Monday, September 7 at 2:10 a.m., police were advised a 2019 black GMC Sierra had been stolen from a property on Windermere Loop Road. The owner of the GMC Sierra said he heard a noise at his residence and when he got up to investigate; he noticed his truck was missing. On September 10 police recovered the stolen truck near Cedar Creek Road in Canal Flats. The truck was seized for a forensic examination. This investigation is also ongoing.

Fairmont FD extinguish burning transport truck

On Wednesday, September 9 at 12:30 a.m., police were called to assist the fire department with a transport truck fire on Highway 93/95 in Fairmont Hot Springs. The driver of the transport truck was able to disconnect his tractor from the trailer after noticing the trailer, which contained wood chips, had caught on fire. The driver suspected his brakes overheated, which ignited the chips. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to any other property. No injuries were reported.

Mountain bike turned into detachment

On Friday, September 11, a Super Cycle mountain bike was turned in to the RCMP. The bike was found on the Junior Johnson Trail near Lake Lillian on September 4. The owner of the bicycle can contact the Columbia Valley Detachment to claim it.

Motorcyclist taken to hospital after collision with deer near Edgewater

On Saturday, September 12 at about 3:10 p.m., police received a report of a single vehicle motorcycle collision with a deer on Highway 95 near Edgewater. The operator of the motorcycle was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
