After several months of searching, the Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce board of directors this afternoon announced the hiring of Pete Bourke as the new Executive Director.

Bourke brings with him to the role 20 years of senior management experience throughout tourism, hospitality and customer service sectors. He and his wife have also owned and operated small businesses in the valley.

“I’m excited to begin my new role at the chamber,” said Bourke. “We have such an incredible valley with some phenomenal businesses to showcase. I very much look forward to leveraging all of the tools available through my new role to grow our membership base, help business owners be even more successful and continue to be a strong advocating voice outside of our region.”

“The board of directors looks forward to having Pete at the helm of the chamber,” shared chamber President Andrea Tubbs. “His past business experience, on both the corporate and small business level, mixed with his focus on building community will be of great benefit to members, the chamber and the valley’s business community as a whole.”

The search for a new executive director was exhaustive with many interested candidates from both the valley and from afar.

The Human Resources committee of the chamber was tasked with the recruitment process and under the leadership of director Nicole Morgan, were able to fairly and effectively work through the process which took several months.

A past resident, Bourke and his family will be relocating back to the valley later in March. However, Bourke will start his new role with the chamber remotely on March 11.

Upon his return he is looking forward to meeting as many members as possible and getting to know what is top of mind for them and their businesses.

Bourke replaces Susan Clovechok who is now Regional District of East Kootenay Electoral Area F Director.

The Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit organization with 250+ members in the communities of Skookumchuk, Canal Flats, Fairmont Hot Springs, Windermere, Invermere, Panorama, Radium Hot Springs, Edgewater and Brisco.
