Derailment cleanup a slow, careful process

Cleanup continues at the site of an Oct. 10 coal train derailment near Edgewater.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. last Saturday, 17 train cars derailed with two cars flipping over.

Canadian Pacific Railways (CPR) confirmed that the train cars were carrying coal. An unknown quantity of the spilled product hasĀ entered into the Columbia River.

The photos shown here of the CPR coal spill cleanup operations are from Thursday, October 15. It is a slow, careful process.
