Draft Panorama area OCP open for comment

Over 50 people participated in an open house Monday, Dec. 30 to get their first look at the Regional District of East Kootenay’s (RDEK) draft Panorama and Area Official Community Plan (OCP).

“Having the participation and feedback from the community is pivotal to this project’s success, so it was wonderful to have such a strong turnout from the community throughout the day,” said Electoral Area F Director Susan Clovechok.

The draft OCP, associated maps, copies of the poster boards from the open house and more have been posted on the Panorama & Area OCP project page onengage.rdek.bc.ca.

A public comment period on the draft plan is now open. The comment form is available on engage.rdek.bc.ca and will be open until Wednesday, February 19.

Those who do not have access to a computer, but wish to make comment on the draft can provide written submissions to the RDEK prior to the deadline.

“A great deal of work has gone into crafting the plan, and I’m excited to have it at the stage where we can present it to the community. I strongly encourage residents and property owners in the plan area to review the information presented, read over the draft and let us know your thoughts prior to the mid-February deadline,” added Clovechok.

Following the close of the comment period, feedback will be considered as the OCP is finalized. It will then be presented to the RDEK board for first reading prior to going through a formal public hearing. The OCP planning process is expected to be complete by mid-2020.
