Hot pools to remain closed until September

Radium Hot Springs’ main tourism attraction will remain closed until at least September, says Parks Canada.

The Radium Hot Springs pools were closed to the public on January 11, after a structural engineer identified a safety concern in the wet hall subfloor.

While extensive repair work that forced the closure is complete, the COVID-19 pandemic is keeping the iconic mineral waters closed to the public.

“Parks Canada continues to assess how and if this iconic experience can safely resume,” it notes on the Kootenay National Park website.

Pleiades Spa and Wellness remains open by appointment only.

Farther south at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort, its iconic hot springs are open only to resort guests for the time being.
