Invermere CAO leaving for Alberta

Chris Prosser

The District of Invermere has begun the search for a new chief administrative officer (CAO), Mayor Al Miller announced Sept. 6.

Addressing fellow Regional District of East Kootenay board directors, Miller said Chris Prosser is leaving for High River, Alberta.

Prosser, who has been CAO in Invermere for 14 years, told e-KNOW family needs and another career challenge led to the move.

“It is an exciting opportunity to work with a community that has seen so much devastation from the 2013 floods and to work their way through that process to be where they are today. For me, it is a larger community with about 200 employees to look after and larger operational and capital budgets to deal with,” Prosser said.

He leaves the district with several notable accomplishments achieved during his tenure as CAO, which followed a spell where he was director of planning in Invermere.

“We (council and staff) have done a lot of things in Invermere, from securing, protecting a long term water supply and strategy, to building pothole and Cenotaph Parks, to building reserves and of course building the new Community Centre and Library.  It has certainly been and exciting time and challenging for the community,” Prosser stated.
