Jumbo Society hosting AGM Dec. 17

The Jumbo Creek Conservation Society is hosting its annual general meeting on December 17 at the Windermere and District Lion’s Hall, west of Columbia Valley Chamber of Commerce Visitor Centre, 651 Hwy 93/95 at 7:30 p.m.

It is hard to believe that another year has passed… the good news is that Jumbo is still Wild and all has been quiet since the BC Court of Appeal ruling upholding the provincial government’s decision cancelling the environmental assessment certificate for the resort.

We had a ball at our celebration potluck hosted by Alfred Joseph of the Akisqnuk Band – thanks to Smarty Pants for bringing the music and to all who brought amazing food to share!

You will also recall that in August we got more exciting news that the Ktunaxa Nation Council received approval from Environment and Climate Change Canada for funding to develop an Indigenous Protected and Conserved Area in the Qat’muk area of the central Purcell Mountain range.

We are hoping you will join us once again for our annual general meeting where we will give a (brief!) overview of the year to date and enjoy the company of friendships that come from decades of shared effort to Keep Jumbo Wild.

We look forward to seeing you there!
