Demolition work ongoing at Radium pools

Repair and upgrade work at Radium Hot Springs pools in Kootenay National Park continue.

Parks Canada this morning (Friday, March 13) reported demolition work of the wet hall subfloor is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of March.

The hot pools closure is expected to last into the spring.

The pools were closed to the public on January 11, after a structural engineer identified a safety concern in the wet hall subfloor.

As of today, “contractors are cutting concrete from the subfloor and removing it by hand via the cool pool deck. Work is being completed as quickly as possible,” Parks Canada reported.

Further updates on the reopening of the pools will be provided once demolition is complete.

Stay up on repair progress
