A Wings Over the Rockies activity on Friday, May 10 involved a group of volunteers working on a riparian restoration project at Sinclair Creek in Radium Hot Springs.

The work is part of a multi-year effort to get rid of invasive plant species that had begun to overgrow the native species.

This group is led by a team from East Kootenay Invasive Species Council, funded by the Columbia Basin Fish & Wildlife Compensation Program.

The plantings are cottonwood, dogwood, birch, white pine, and various grasses and shrubs. The volunteers are building up natural looking structures of driftwood and rocks so that the new plants will take root and strengthen the creek bank.
