Cranbrook Hub for Refugees thanks supporters

Letter to the Editor

The Cranbrook Hub for Refugees (CHR) would like to send out a sincere ‘thank you’ to all who contributed to and joined us on our second annual Dinner and Dance fundraiser, held March 11 at Colombo Lodge.

The evening was a huge success with the theme of ‘Spring is in the Air’ in anticipation of sunny skies to come. Approximately 175 people enjoyed the fabulous Colombo dinner, the wonderful entertainment by the Note-Able folk group and Jamie Neve’s Band got everyone up dancing.

The silent auction was well stocked by almost 30 local businesses and 10 private donors and well patronized by those in attendance. Special mention goes to the Fisher Peak Performing Arts Society for contribution to the musicians, to Lotus Books and Top Crop for selling tickets, and to all who advertised the event.

Thank you to Joe Pierre Jr., Chief of ?aq’am, who joined us for the evening and shared words of inspiration and wisdom to remind us of being on traditional Ktunaxa territory saying that “every day can be a good and happy day if we approach it thusly.” And lastly, thanks to the attendees, of all ages, who joined us for the important evening.

The event raised approximately $6,000, which goes directly towards supporting CHR’s next refugee family. We really appreciate the support that Cranbrook has given the CHR and look forward to seeing you at our future events.
