Bandits out last Rangers in run-fests

The Cranbrook Bandits bounced back from a mediocre weekend to outlast both the spotty weather and the Kootenay Valley (Eureka, MT) Rangers at Confederation Park Tuesday afternoon.

In a rain-out make-up double-header from May long weekend that took almost eight hours and two rain delays to play, the first game was a slugfest as both teams combined for 25 runs in a 16-9 Bandit win over the Rangers. Rylan D’etcheverrey got the win for the Bandits on the mound. Linden Meggison went 3-3 at the plate, notching five RBIs.

In the second half of the double-header, the game saw a couple of lead changes before the Bandits broke it open in the fourth inning with four runs before holding on to defeat the Rangers 8-6. Rookie Hayden Mastel got the win on the mound for the Bandits, his first career win, while Jake Bromley notched two hits, tripled in the fourth and finished with three RBIs, good for 4-6 at the plate over both games. Brandon Thorn mopped things up on the mound for the save.

The Bandits hit the road for the weekend with dates in Whitefish and Polson, MT against the Glacier Twins and Mission Valley Mariners, Saturday and Sunday.

They return home for a double-header June 29 against the Mission Valley Mariners.
