Breakfast Club of Canada accepting donations

With the start of the new school year around the corner, the Breakfast Club of Canada is preparing to re-open breakfast programs for students in need and is asking British Columbians for help in contributing to the over 181 programs that will welcome more than 8,800 children daily this September, some of whom are in the Kootenays.

A total of 20.3 per cent of children in British Columbia are living in poverty and these children are at greater risk of going hungry every day before school.

With 20 more programs opening in British Columbia this year, the Breakfast Club of Canada is working to fundraise across the province and create awareness to ensure no child is left hungry during their studies.

Partner stores, Walmart and Costco, are accepting donations to assist in the fundraising efforts for the club and every dollar goes towards a healthy and hearty breakfast for kids to start their day.

Walmart will be accepting donations from September 12 to October 4 at all 408 locations across Canada.

Donations are also accepted through the Breakfast Club website: www.breakfastclubcanada.org

The table below shows the vast impact these programs make across British Columbia every year.
