Christmas comes early for Cranbrook man

Douglas Lowes was ‘playing it forward’ and spreading holiday cheer when he decided to buy a Lotto 6/49 winning ticket.

“I was feeling good when I bought the ticket because I had just finished doing some volunteer work and I was dressed up with a Christmas tie and everything,” recalled Lowes.

Lowes won $4.9 million on the December 17 Lotto 6/49 draw, and says he’s looking forward to some leisurely pursuits and to the extra opportunities to give back to his favourite local charities.

“Now I can make sure my garden and property will look the way I want it to look,” smiled Lowes. “And we’ll also be making some contributions to three local charities all of which do great work in Cranbrook.”

Lowes is already planning his first vacation – just in time for the Christmas holidays.

“I’m going to move my vacation up a couple of weeks so our family can celebrate Christmas in a warm country,” he laughed.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Tamarack Centre Mall Lotto Centre in Cranbrook.
