City mourns loss of Joan MacKinnon

The City of Cranbrook family is mourning the loss of Joan MacKinnon, Aquatics Coordinator with the city’s Community Services Department.

Joan was involved in a motor vehicle accident on February 3, which took the life of her husband, Captain Clayton Murrell of Cranbrook Fire and Emergency Services. Joan was airlifted to Kelowna, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Joan was with the Aquatic Centre for over 17 years and was a leader, a mentor and a friend to city staff. Through her role with aquatics, she has touched the lives of countless individuals and groups throughout our community.

The city family wishes to express our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
