Colin Linden at Key City Theatre Nov. 16

Colin Linden is a genuine renaissance man of roots music.

He’s a member of the highly successful trio, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, a singer and songwriter, an in-demand and prolific record producer, musical director on the hit TV show Nashville and sideman to the stars as guitarist for the likes of Bob Dylan, Bruce Cockburn, Emmylou Harris, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.

Born in Toronto, Canada, and raised in White Plains, New York, Colin Linden returned to Canada in 1970. He was already a guitar prodigy at 11-years-old, and when most kids that age are playing sports, Colin was meeting and being mentored by one of his musical heroes, the great bluesman Howlin’ Wolf, which helped set the youngster on a course to pursue the sounds of his dreams. That encounter helped fuel a career that has featured his work on literally hundreds of albums.

At last count, the total of recordings on which he has played approaches 400, while over 100 albums bear the “Produced by Colin Linden” credit.

Only 15 years old when he embarked on his first tour as a musician, he worked with acoustic powerhouse Don McLean on a journey that took him across Canada, through America’s Rust Belt and into the Mississippi Delta.

A winner of eight Juno Awards, Canada’s top blues trophy, and a multiple Grammy winner for work on O Brother Where Art Thou and Down From The Mountain, which won top honours in Best Album and Best Folk Album categories in 2002.

A tasty, talented slide guitarist, Linden’s also an accomplished songwriter whose works have been covered by a wide range of artists, including Keb Mo’, The Blind Boys Of Alabama, Colin James and The Band. He’s spent the past few years in the studio with Gregg Allman, Rhiannon Giddens and Diana Krall and on the road backing Bob Dylan.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the great Colin Linden at Key City Theatre, Saturday November 16.

Tickets are available at the Key City Theatre Box Office and online.
