Council supports fourth cannabis retail application

The City of Cranbrook has received a Notice of Application from the Liquor and Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB ) for 1194091 BC Ltd., Mountain Cannabis Co., for a non-medical cannabis retail store license for a retail space located at Suite A, 21 Cranbrook St. N. (formerly The Byng building).

The applicant is requesting operating hours of 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday to Sunday.

This is the fourth of four potential allowable cannabis retail stores in the downtown.

In accordance with Section 33(1) of the Cannabis Control and Licensing Act, the LCRB is prevented from issuing a cannabis retail store license without a positive recommendation regarding the license application from the local government.

The LCRB is requesting the city consider the application and provide the branch with a written recommendation with respect to the application.

Notice of this application was sent out on June 25, with one response received opposed to the application. Notice of the application was also sent inter-departmentally within the city. Responses were received from the RCMP and Fire Department with no issues raised.
