Cranbrook celebrates Canada’s 150th birthday

Cranbrook went all out to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday July 1, with a day full of events at Rotary Park.

Cranbrook’s one and only Bud Abbott set the scene by performing O Canada.

Summit 107’s Dennis Walker served as emcee on the main stage in Rotary Park, which included a performance by Cranbrook’s own Dawson Rutledge, Canada Day Citizenship Awards handed out to local youths and a special celebration for the Chief Isadore Trail, a cake cutting, speeches and more.

Rotary Park bustled all day long, with live entertainment leading into the evening by Clayton Parsons, Brian Brons and his band of brothers, and recording artist JJ Shiplett.

Following JJ Shiplett’s set a laser light show lit up Rotary Park and the south wall of Fire Hall No. 1, and then fireworks from Western Financial Place concluded the evening.
