Cranbrook RCMP Report
The following is a synopsis of calls received by Cranbrook RCMP for the week (from 6 a.m.) June 6 to 6 a.m., June 13.
The detachment received 142 calls for service throughout that period.
Among the calls police handled…
– Four collisions – two drivers charged out of the collisions;
– One hit and run incident – no suspects;
– Eight Mental Health calls – two apprehended;
– Three assault complaints: Zero domestic in nature / one assault complaint resulted in an arrest;
– 11 thefts reported: four for shoplifting; one theft was unfounded; one theft from motor vehicle; one theft of truck unfounded’ theft of a dump trailer from Diamond West Trailer; two thefts from front yards/ one report of suspicious male and female checking car doors along 11th Street S around 9th Avenue S;
– One break and enter reported – College of the Rockies, one male was arrested.
– Three reports of mischief to property;
– One arson at Gyro Park bathrooms – structure is ok but damage to contents inside;
– Two drug seizures (marijuana);
-Search warrant executed in Wattsville area. One adult female arrested, charges forthcoming

Cranbrook RCMP will be out in full force anticipating increased calls for service this coming weekend.
Officers outgoing and incoming
On behalf of the Cranbrook RCMP members, staff and city, I would like to wish Cst. Hailey Pinfold and Cst. Michael Penton all the best as they transfer out of Cranbrook Detachment. Both officers arrived in Cranbrook in the summer of 2012 and made significant contributions to the detachment and City of Cranbrook. Their service to this area has been very much appreciated. Good luck Mike and Hailey!
I would also like to welcome three officers to Cranbrook Detachment:
Sgt. Chris Dodds comes to us from Whistler RCMP Detachment where he was responsible for running the Pemberton RCMP Sub Office. Chris joined us in early May and is our new Cranbrook Detachment Operations Support NCO.
Cpl. Mich Mercier joins us from Regina, Saskatchewan where his previous role was that of an instructor at the RCMP Depot. He arrived in Cranbrook near the end of May and is our new Watch Commander.
Cst. Colin Smilie who recently graduated from the RCMP Depot in Regina has just joined us in Cranbrook this month.
