Cranbrook welcoming back the Coldest Night of the Year

Canadian Mental Health Association for the Kootenays (CMHA Kootenays) and The Cranbrook Salvation Army are encouraging Cranbrook and Kimberley residents to bundle up and raise cold, hard cash for The Coldest Night of the Year (WALK).

A family-friendly winter fundraising walk for Cranbrook’s homeless, hungry and hurting, the WALK takes place on the evening of February 22, 2020 starting and ending at the Days Inn & Conference Centre Cranbrook.

Thousands of participants will be taking part in the WALK in an anticipated 100 cities across Canada. By walking together in the chill of the night, participants will better understand the experience of being on the streets during a cold Canadian winter, while raising funds to aid the work of CMHA Kootenays and The Cranbrook Salvation Army in providing much-needed support to members of our community.

The Cranbrook WALK begins and ends at the Days Inn & Conference Centre, located at 600 Cranbrook Street N Cranbrook, where walkers will register, turn in the results of their fundraising efforts, and return at the end of the evening for a warm celebration meal. Donning a toque with a bold blue strip, a heathery grey top and a rad circular patch with a blue CNOY snowflake, participants will walk a 2km or 5km and will warm up with toasty drinks at rest stops along the way.

This is CMHA Kootenay and The Cranbrook Salvation Army’s first year taking part in the Coldest Night of the Year, with a fundraising goal of $30,000. An expected 200 walkers and 30 teams, including staff and friends of CMHA Kootenays and The Cranbrook Salvation Army are expected to brave the cold winter’s night.
