EKFH hosting Day of Giving Dec. 10 at hospital

Rocky Mountain Collision continues long tradition of support

East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s (EKFH) Starlite Campaign just got a whole lot brighter!

The EKFH is proud to partner up with Rocky Mountain Collision for a Day of Giving on December 10 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

EKFH will be set up in the main lobby spreading the spirit of the holidays by accepting donations for the SPECT CT.

Rocky Mountain Collision heard about this fantastic initiative and offered to match donations dollar for dollar up to $10,000 until December 10!

Rocky Mountain Collision and the Thom family have been incredible supporters to the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, donating $113,400 since 2005.

Chris Thom, owner of Rocky Mountain Collision commented, “We are all going to rely on regional health services to maintain and support our health at some point. The convenience of a SPECT CT will not only bring diagnosis closer to home, it will enhance our quality of life by offering earlier detection and treatment. If you are considering how you can make an impact on healthcare in our region, please consider donating to the SPECT CT campaign. To encourage your donation, we will match your investment dollar for dollar up to ten thousand dollars on December 10, the Day of Giving.”

EKFH Board Chair Mike Calder added, “On behalf of EKFH, I would like to thank the Thom family for the extremely generous donation to the SPECT CT and kick off our Day of Giving. The SPECT CT will be the most impactful piece of equipment purchased for the East Kootenay Regional Hospital and will significantly improve health care for all residents in our area. The EKFH is focused on bringing this life saving piece of equipment to the East Kootenay so please support the Starlite Campaign to help us make this dream, a reality.”

The funds from this year’s Starlite Campaign are going towards the purchase of a SPECT CT.

The state- of-the-art SPECT CT scanner at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital will be the only equipment of its kind in the East Kootenay, providing faster, more definitive diagnosis of medical conditions. For patients, it will reduce the anxiety of waiting for a full diagnosis and the commencement of treatment, reducing time, money, travel expenses and stress.

The SPECT CT combines a gamma camera with a CT scanner to create 3D images. It will be an incredible addition to diagnosis and set up treatment plans for cancer, coronary artery disease, kidney failure, dementia, infection, fractures, Parkinson disease and the list goes on.

The East Kootenay Regional Hospital is the only regional hospital in B.C. that doesn’t have a SPECT CT.

Currently, patients must travel to Kelowna to get this test done. The East Kootenay Foundation for Health’s 2019 Starlite Campaign is focused on raising $1.2 million to bring this to the residents of the entire East Kootenay.

Please stop by the East Kootenay Regional Hospital on December 10 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to donate! If you are unable to stop by on December 10, you are invited to make a holiday gift to the EKFH by calling 250-489-6481 or go online to ekfh.ca.

The EKFH would like to thank all of their past and current donors and they look forward to having a successful 2019 Starlite Campaign!
