Foote kicks off for Juno nominee March 27
Connor Foote is a Cranbrook country/folk singer and songwriter who will open the 2019 Winter Ale Concert at Key City Theatre on Wednesday, March 27 for 2019 JUNO Nominee, The Slocan Ramblers.
Foote (pictured above) has shared the stage with Valdy, Ken Hamm and Ben Rogers and toured B.C. and Alberta with Jack Marks and Friends. He is one of six local performing artists who will entertain audiences alongside touring artists in one of the five 2019 seasonal concerts formulated by The Fisher Peak Performing Artists Society (FPPAS) and the Key City Theatre (KCT).
“These concerts are an awesome concept because it pairs an up and coming artist with a critically acclaimed artist. For some it could be a turning point in their artistic journey,” stated Foote.
Each show is performed on the theatre’s gallery stage with excellent food and beverage service provided by program sponsors, the Heid Out Restaurant and Fisher Peak Brewing Company.
Foote predominantly found his inspiration from grandfather Ed King, an award-winning country gospel musician. Presently, he enjoys playing and writing music directly inspired from what he listens to in the moment. This includes tunes from Townes Van Zandt and Kris Kristofferson, to Bob Dylan and everything in between. He hopes to release his first album in the latter part of 2019.
The 2019 JUNO Award Nominees were announced January 29th with The Slocan Ramblers (pictured right) nominated for Traditional Roots Album of the Year.
The Slocan Ramblers are Canada’s bluegrass band to watch. Rooted in tradition, fearlessly creative and possessing a bold, dynamic sound, The Slocans have become a leading light of today’s acoustic music scene. With a reputation for energetic live shows, impeccable musicianship and an uncanny ability to convert anyone within earshot into a lifelong fan, The Slocans have been winning over audiences from Merlefest to RockyGrass.
On their much-anticipated new album Queen City Jubilee, The Slocans showcase their unique blend of bluegrass, old-time and folk with deep songwriting, lightning fast instrumentals and sawdust-thick vocals.
With their trademark raucous energy, this new album presents The Slocan Ramblers at the top of their game – writing and playing tunes to keep you up all night. This is roots music without pretension, music intended to make you feel something – say hello to your new favourite band.
