IH reports COVID-19 exposure at St. Mary’s CIS

Interior Health (IH) is this morning reporting a COVID-19 exposure at Cranbrook’s St. Mary’s Catholic Independent School between Nov. 17 and 19.

IH is working in partnership with school districts to support information-sharing when there are COVID-19 exposures at schools.

When a case of COVID-19 is confirmed, IH public health works quickly to determine close contacts, and will contact parents/guardians of students who are considered to be at risk.

Interior Health notes a “school exposure notification” does not mean all students at the school have been exposed to COVID-19.

If you do not receive a phone call or letter from Interior Health, your child should continue to attend school. You can monitor your child for COVID-19 symptoms daily using the BC COVID-19 Health Assessment Tool.

After 14 days, school exposures listed are archived.

This is the second possible school exposure in the East Kootenay in the past 13 days. The Kimberley Independent School had a potential exposure Nov. 10.

No schools in School District No. 5 and School District No. 6 currently have any exposures according to IH records.
