Late night vehicle incident lands one in hospital

Cranbrook RCMP is investigating after a female was allegedly pushed out of a vehicle, dragged as the vehicle took off and then run over after she was dislodged.

At approximately 1:22 a.m., Cranbrook RCMP was called to a motor vehicle incident in the 1500-block of Jim Smith Lake Road. Once on scene it was determined that an adult woman passenger was reportedly robbed of her purse and pushed out of the vehicle. It is believed that the victim became tangled up outside the truck and dragged approximately 240 metres before becoming dislodged. The woman, who was then struck by the back wheels of the truck, sustained severe injuries.

Subsequent investigation revealed there had been four people in the vehicle including the victim. The suspect vehicle is described as a white pick-up truck.

“We are currently looking to speak with the occupants of the truck or whoever might have more information with regard to this incident,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron, Cranbrook RCMP Media Relations Officer.

Cranbrook Detachment is asking anyone who might have information to contact them at 250-489-3471 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
