Local woman identified in disturbing viral video
A Cranbrook woman has been identified as the person captured on film in a viral racist/threatening rant video.
A roughly five minute video, now viewed 339,000 times on Facebook, shows Kelly Pocha of Cranbrook hurling threats and racial jabs at a table of three men.
Cranbrook Dodge has relieved Pocha of her job, stating on Twitter earlier this afternoon it is “deeply concerned about the content of this video” and offering an apology for her actions.
“We have recently become aware of a disturbing video that involves one of our employees. We are deeply concerned about the content of this video and want all of our friends, families, colleagues, and customers to know that this behaviour does not reflect the values of Cranbrook Dodge in any way,” stated owner Dave Girling.
Pocha told Lethbridge News Now she is sorry for the incident, captured on film during a visit to the Lethbridge Denny’s on April 21 and then posted on Facebook by Monir Omerzai.
She explained she felt provoked by a man seated next to her and she got “extremely heated and then that’s basically when they hit record.
“You don’t see the whole video, you don’t see what was said to me, things like that. So yeah, I’m extremely upset about it, cause it’s gotten, I think, way out of hand,” she told Lethbridge News Now (LNN).
Pocha told LNN she’s upset the video has gone viral and doesn’t know how to deal with it, and admits it was racist.
“Oh of course, of course it was. If I could take it back, I would. But I can’t. I don’t know how to handle this kind of attention… I really don’t know what to do at this point in time. It is what it is…but I do apologize for what I said, ‘cause a lot of it is not me. I don’t normally say things like that.”
