Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting has provided an update on re-paving operations, locations and timelines for scheduled work around Cranbrook.

King Street, in both directions. Paving operations planned between Wilks Road and Highway 95 in Cranbrook. Starting Tuesday, Aug. 6 at 7 a.m. until Friday, Aug. 9 at 6 p.m. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends, Monday and Tuesday.

Wycliffe Park Road, in both directions. Paving operations planned from Highway 95A for 8.2 km (eight km west of Cranbrook). Starting Thursday, August 8 at 7 a.m. until Saturday, Aug. 10 at 6 p.m. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays.

Mission Road, in both directions. Paving operations planned between Highway 95A and Victor Road near Cranbrook. Starting Saturday, Aug. 10 at 7 a.m. until Tuesday, Aug 13 at 6 p.m. From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

“During this time, we hope to keep disturbance to local businesses and residents to a minimum.  Access to all business will remain open, although some detours to your normal route may be necessary to ensure worker safety,” Mainroad noted.

Traffic will be kept open at each site in a single lane alternating pattern. Motorists should expect delays and plan an alternate route. Work will be conducted by our own road crews, as well as subcontractors working under Mainroad oversight.

There will be no excessive noise or bright lights overnight resulting from this work.  Some work may be conducted on weekends.

“Please remember your responsibility as a driver to obey traffic control persons, and to watch for work zones and obey orange construction signage.  Be patient; “slow down and move over” for emergency or maintenance vehicles.  These laws are in place to help ensure the safety of your passengers as well as our crews,” Mainroad asks.
