Melissa Mitro to conduct dance workshops for Stages
Melissa Mitro from Canada’s ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ is coming to work with dancers from Stages School of Dance in Cranbrook.
“We are excited to have Melissa take a break from her busy schedule to kick off our holiday season with some specialty workshop classes in Cranbrook,” said Stages owner Sheri Green.
Mellissa was Runner up on CTV’s So You Think You Can Dance Canada; her duet received the “Outstanding Choreography Television Live Perfromance” award from the World Dance Awards held in Los Angeles.
Melissa has worked and assisted with such notables as Mia Micheals, Stacey Tookey, Mandy Moore, Travis Wall, Teddy Forance, Misha Gabriel, Nick Lazzarini, Luther Brown and many more. She has toured, performed, and danced in many music videos with such artists as Nick Jonas, PSY, Nelly Furtado, Serena Ryder, Mia Martina, Morgan Page, Guinevere, Victoria Duffield, Anjulie, Tegan and Sara, Aleesia, Dru, Vita Chambers, Tyler Medeiros and Azari & III.
Melissa has performed at the Pan American Games in Mexico, the Parapan Games in Toronto, on Disney’s The Next Step, Russell Peter’s Christmas Special, on City TV’s New Years Eve Bash with Juno award winning artist Anjulie, the Nick Carter tour in the U.S (2012), on CBC’s Over the Rainbow, the Juno Awards, Global TV’s New Years Eve Bash with Nelly Furtado, and the Much Music Video Awards.
She was featured in the movie Dr. Cabbie with such notable film stars as Kunal Nayyar from the Big Bang Theory and also in the movie Suicide Squad, with huge names such as Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Jay Hernandez and Ben Affleck.
She has travelled to Italy, Croatia, Spain, Finland, and Poland to perform in many Salsa Congresses with the company Ansima Production Ballet. Just recently she was the Latin choreographer for SYTYCD in Vietnam and has worked on this years SYTYCD “The Next Generation” in America.

Local honour
Caitlin Paulson from Stages School of Dance was awarded her second scholarship to SDF Dance tour. In 2015 Caitlin attended dance training and photo shoot in Paris, France. This past summer Caitlin attended the Barcelona, Spain SDF dance tour where she worked with Melissa and numerous other excellent choreographers and teachers.
