Minds in Motion has space available

Program for Cranbrook residents living with early-stage dementia

Space is available for new registrants in a unique program that helps Cranbrook residents living with dementia.

Minds in Motion runs for six Thursdays starting on September 26 and accepts participants at any time before it finishes on October 31.

The social and fitness program is part of the Alzheimer Society of B.C.’s First Link dementia support for people in the early stages of the disease, and their care partner.

The program helps them stay active and engaged in the community.

Benefits of the exercise component include improved balance, mobility and flexibility, as well as helping to build the confidence to live well with dementia.

Minds in Motion also helps care partners form new social support networks.

Sessions run Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. from September 26 through October 31 at Cranbrook Seniors Hall, 125 17th Avenue South.

Pre-registration is required by calling 250-489-0220 or dropping by the Community Services Registration Desk at Western Financial Place.

For more information or to try out a free session prior to registering, call Minds in Motion Coordinator Carey Henry at 778-761-2011 or (cell) 250-489-9401.
