Mother’s Day Composting Workshop

This Sunday, May 10, plan on celebrating Mother’s Day with Wildsight Kimberley/Cranbrook as they host Mike Dorian of Living Soils Solutions at the Cranbrook Public Produce Garden.

From 12– 4 p.m. registrants can learn about backyard composting tips and tricks, compost tea, and vermiculture. Registration is online at www.wildsight.ca/kimcran at a cost of $10 for members and $15 for non-members. Sign up through www.wildsight.ca/kimcran prior to the workshop, or call (250) 426-6026.

Composting is an easy at home process that keeps waste out of our landfills, by converting plant products into nutrient rich soil. The rich soil you are left with has impressive water holding capacity and improves the structure of the soil. All resulting in healthier plants without the use of chemical fertilizers.

Mike Dorian makes his living encouraging healthy soils and states: “Our business is about stepping away from the modern conventional ways of gardening and bringing traditional solutions and methods back to the mainstream. There is much more life going on under our feet than we can even imagine, and that is what we reclaim in your soil – natural living nutrients.”

This workshop is a component of the Cranbrook Composts project largely funded by Columbia Basin Trust. Register now as there truly is no better time to get your hands dirty in a rich, nutrient filled compost pile!
