One in custody after knife fight

Cranbrook RCMP has arrested a female and continue to investigate after being called to a knife fight yesterday afternoon.

At around 5 p.m. Sept. 8, RCMP was called to the 500 block of Victoria Avenue by a female who had been assaulted in a park nearby.

She stated that there had been a group hanging out when one of the other females began fighting with her.  The suspect female then pulled out a knife and attempted to attack the victim, reported Cst. Katie Forgeron of Cranbrook RCMP.

Police arrived on scene shortly after the incident and arrested one female. She is still in custody pending court this afternoon.

Police are recommending charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and a weapon in unauthorized possession.

“RCMP continues to investigate and is asking anyone who may have witnessed this altercation to call the office at 250-489-3471,”, said Cst. Forgeron.
