Pink the Rink featuring post game jersey auction

The Kootenay ICE has announced the details for its Pink the Rink Anti-Bullying jersey silent auction.

The ICE will be wearing limited edition Pink the Rink Anti-Bullying jerseys during their game against the Brandon Wheat Kings on Saturday, January 27. All game-worn jerseys will be part of a silent auction.

The auction begins on Friday, January 26 at 6 p.m. and ends on Friday, February 2 at the end of the first period during the game between the ICE and the Spokane Chiefs.

The winning bidder must pay for their jersey in full by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 6. If they fail to do so, the jersey will be awarded to the next highest bidder.

If an individual bids $500 or more on a jersey, they will also receive a limited edition commemorative Memorial Cup coin (valued at $59.95 + tax).

An individual can place a bid in person at the ICE Gear Store or by calling 250-417-0322.

In addition, all ICE coaches will be wearing pink ties in support of anti-bullying. Each coach will sign the tie he wore, which then will be part of the eight-day silent auction. All ICE players will also sign a pink and black Kootenay ICE hat, which will be part of the silent auction too.

All money raised from the silent auction will go towards the ICE Education Fund, where 100% of the funds go towards ICE player’s post-secondary education.

Here are other details about the Pink the Rink Anti-Bullying Game:

Western Financial Group will be selling pink pucks at the game (one for $2 or three for $5). This will be followed by a pink puck toss during the second intermission.

The closest puck to the centre dot will receive the Western Financial Group Luxury Box Suite at an upcoming ICE game along with a $100 gift card for food and drinks.

All fans are encouraged to wear pink to support anti-bullying

Arrive early to purchase special pink merchandise in limited quantities. All pink merchandise proceeds will go directly to the ICE Education fund.

Orzeck recalled

The ICE recalled ’01-born defenceman Nolan Orzeck earlier this week.

The ICE selected Orzeck in the fourth round (67th overall) in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

A native of Calgary, Alberta, Orzeck has appeared in 24 games with the Calgary Northstars Midget AAA of the AMHL this season. In those 24 games, he has three goals and 13 points.

Orzeck made his WHL debut with the ICE on October 27, 2017 against the Seattle Thunderbirds.

Tickets for Saturday’s game are still available and can be purchased online at ICEcountry.ca, at the ICE Gear Store at Western Financial Place or by calling 250-417-0322.
