Pop-Up Beer Stop returns to Rotary Park Sept.8

Organizers from JCI Kootenay are putting the finishing touches on the second annual Pop-Up Beer Stop (PUBS) in Cranbrook’s Rotary Park on Saturday, September 8.

The event is proudly supported by Alpine Toyota, along with EKC and Hryciuk Gallinger @ Co.

Held in conjunction with the City of Cranbrook’s Fall Festival, PUBS is a celebration of the area’s live music, craft beer and food truck scene.

Event Chair Ryan Wilhelm says:  “Supporting our local producers and performers is the best way to foster a vibrant community. That’s exactly what we are trying to do with this event”.

Nine local craft beers will be served from Cranbrook’s Fisher Peak Brewing Company, Kimberley’s Over Time Beer Works and the Fernie Brewing Company. In addition, breweries will be onsite to provide a more information about their brews and a little education on craft beer.

Four musical acts will take the stage from 2-10 p.m., including a headline performance from Edmonton trio ‘Scenic Route to Alaska.’ “We really wanted to take this event to the next level, and we believe bringing in an act like Scenic Route to Alaska does just that.” Says Wilhelm.

Since dropping their acclaimed third LP, Long Walk Home, in 2016, the prairie indie outfit has amassed an impressive pile of achievements and accolades at home and abroad. They’ve since released their fourth album Tough Luck, which follows up on the success of Long Walk Home.

Joining them will be local artists ‘Clayton and Joelle’, ‘East West Connection’ and Medicine Hat Duo ‘Mahoney.’

Along with the music, food and craft beer, there will be fun minute-to-win-it competitions held during the event, with some great prizes on offer.

Tickets are $10 at the gate, with kids 12 and under free with an accompanying adult.  For more information e-mail: [email protected] or visit www.jcikootenay.com/events
