RCMP seek suspect and vehicle involved in assault

Cranbrook RCMP is currently requesting assistance in identifying an individual associated with an assault behind the Tamarack Centre.

On January 13, at approximately 7 p.m., members received a call advising that a person had been assaulted behind the Tamarack Centre near the Canadian Tire.

The caller advised he was on foot when he noted a vehicle travelling close by which nearly struck him. He advised he continued on his way but the vehicle returned. The male passenger jumped out of the vehicle and punched him in the head several times. The caller was then pushed to the ground where he injured his knee.

He attended East Kootenay Regional Hospital where he was assessed for his injuries.

“The suspect male is described as being in his mid 30s early 40s; six foot tall and heavier in stature. The vehicle is described as an older model Hyundai Santa Fe, grey or brown in colour,” said Cst. Katie Forgeron. “We are hoping someone recognizes the vehicle and the description of the suspect so we can move forward with our investigation.”

Cranbrook Detachment is asking anyone who might have information to contact them at 250-489-3471 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
