Residents asked to complete Mount Baker Secondary survey

School District No. 5 (SD5) is asking residents for input via a survey on three options for what to do about Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook.

“The purpose of this project is to advocate to the Ministry of Education regarding options to bring the oldest school in the Kootenays into the 21st century. The school board has approved engaging an architect (Berry Architecture) to assist with investigating options for upgrading Mount Baker Secondary School,” the survey explains.

The three options to investigate include full replacement, partial replacement, or major renovation of the nearly 70-year-old facility.

“Through this process we hope to identify the full gamut of implications associated with each option. This survey is our first step in obtaining input about the options from past and present students, past and present staff, and community members,” the SD5 survey says.

Please review the three options in the description of the survey carefully as they all have implications and give input on each.

The survey closes Friday, February 26.

Review further and complete the survey.
