Sam Steele Days fast approaching

Can you believe it? Sam Steele Days is three weeks away!

With the festival ramping up to get all things set up, we wanted to share some information to the public.

This year Sam Steele Days will be hosted at Cranbrook’s Balment Park, behind Western Financial Place. There will be many events held throughout the community between June 14 and 17.

On Thursday and Friday (June 14 and 15) from breakfasts and barbecues to dog washes and musicians performing in restaurants at night.

On Saturday, June 16, BC Transit will be offering free bussing throughout the community for the whole day so leave that car at home and take advantage of not having to find a spot to park.

The activities for the day will start off with a pancake breakfast being hosted on Baker Street with the St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino Sam Steele Days Grand Parade (pictured above) that you cannot miss to follow at 10:30 a.m.

From there, Western Financial Group’s Saturday Central fairgrounds will be starting with many events and shows going on.

We will have many booths from all over B.C. coming in to host different information sessions as well as games for the kids/adults to attend.

Our Manitoulin Transport Sam Steele Market will be in full swing at 11:30 a.m., with over 30 different market vendors coming in to showcase their goods and products. There is something for everyone to fall in love with or try.

The Strongman Classic is a must see and will be throughout Saturday and available to all festival attendees to watch.

Spring Honda Taste of Sam Steele will be showcasing over 20 different food vendors from throughout the Kooteneys and you will not want to miss out on all the goodies they have to offer. You might even want to try three or four different food trucks!

Martech Electrical Community Talent Showcase will be kicking off at 11:30 a.m. and will be showcasing many talents from within the community. You do not want to miss out on the performances available for all patrons to watch.

What else will keep your family busy and having fun?

There is the BA Blacktop Giant Inflatable Funland with five bouncy houses available for kids to have fun in for hours.

BA Blacktop Balls of Steele Bocce tournament will be on going from 12 to 8 p.m. and will also be hosting in the same area, the Molson Coors Sam Steele Days Festival Beer Gardens available to all patrons over 19 years of age.

And to finish off the day, PB Pro Audio will be hosting Catch 22 in concert at the memorial arena for adults at 9 p.m. Beer gardens will be available at this location as well.

Don’t forget to check out during the day, the soccer tournament that is going on up at Moir Park and down at Mount Baker Secondary School, as well as the Sam Steele ball tournament that is being hosted at confederation Park, Moir park, and the quads.

The fun doesn’t end there though as Total Pet/Pet Valu Sunday Central Fairgrounds will have so many options and activities for the whole family to complete their weekend of fun and excitement.

Sunday will kick off with the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Pancake Breakfast and then go into a community worship service starting at 9:30 and going till 10:30 a.m.

Following this we will be going into the B.C. 55+ Games torch lighting ceremony as those games are being hosted in Kimberley and Cranbrook this year.

After the torch lighting is done the Salvador Sunday stage show will begin. With many local talented artists participating in this day you will want to make time to come hang out by the stage.

Spring Honda Taste of Sam Steele will have many vendors to feed you and keep you running throughout the whole day.

We Bike will be there as well to host a biking course challenge for participants to engage in and win prizes. Registration is not required in order to participate in this activity but helmets and your own bike are a must.

Local sports organizations will be on hand hosting different booths and showcasing their activities.

Bedroom Furniture Gallery will be hosting their bed races as well this day!

We are still looking for lots of volunteers as well as paid helpers for the weekend, so please make sure go online to www.samsteeledays.org to get your information in.

If you have an event happening please make sure to register this with our society so we are able to promote it for your business and let our patrons know what is happening around town. We hope to see you out for the largest festival in the Kootenays.
