Santa Claus Parade Saturday

Downtown Cranbrook is going to be festive place where giving is alive this coming Saturday, as a long-standing tradition is changed.

The Christmas in the Rockies Santa Claus Parade is Saturday, November 25 at 5:30 p.m. in downtown Cranbrook. The parade has in the past been held on Friday evenings.

The theme of this yearā€™s JCI Kootenay presented parade is ā€˜flannel and frostā€™ and proceeds go to the Cranbrook Food Bank.

Non-perishable food donations can be dropped off at the Bedroom Furniture Galleries on Baker Street or Denham Ford leading up to the parade.

Parade entry forms are available at the Bedroom Furniture Galleries or contact Hayley at [email protected].

The Cranbrook Downtown Business Association (DBA) is encouraging businesses to stay open late and embrace the festivities by dressing inĀ flannel.

ā€œYou are also welcome to offer hot chocolate or treats to parade-goers,ā€ suggests DBA president Joey Hoechsmann.

Cranbrook Farmersā€™ Winter Market

If you need to warm up or find some great Christmas gift ideas or fresh produce and other goods, remember to check out the Cranbrook Farmersā€™ Winter Market startingĀ Saturday, Nov.Ā 25 at 1 p.m. and running until 9Ā p.m.Ā in the old Super Valu building on Baker Street. On Sunday, Nov. 26,Ā theĀ Winter MarketĀ is open fromĀ 11Ā a.m.Ā to 3Ā p.m.

Food Drive Night at Western Financial Place

Another post parade option for entertainment is the Kootenay ICE game versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes. In keeping with the giving nature of the day, the ICE and Cranbrook Dodge are teaming up to help the Cranbrook Food Bank with Food Drive Night. They are hoping to raise two tons of food as well as cash donations during the evening. They are also offering 50% off tickets for kids.

The forecast for Saturday is a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 6 C and a low of zero. There is a 70% chance of showers in the evening.
