A number of slash piles located adjacent to the Community Forest along Baker Mountain Road in Cranbrook are scheduled to be burned starting as early as Wednesday, provided the venting index is favorable.

Residents may notice localized smoke while the piles are being burned but should not be alarmed as these are planned ignitions and are an important component of the fuel mitigation work happening around our community.

Contractors will be overseeing the operations and have taken the initiative to notify the City Fire Department prior to the work beginning.
