SIN scam alert issued by RCMP
Cranbrook RCMP is warning the public about an identity theft scam making the rounds.
“The scam usually involves ether a phone call, email or text, advising that your social insurance number (SIN) has been compromised and been used. The caller may require you to press a number and confirm your social insurance number. Callers have also mentioned that there is warrants for your arrest as well,” reported Sgt. Shayne Parker of Cranbrook RCMP.
“This is not the case, please do not give out any personal information. Please hang up and block the number from calling back,” he advised.
